Needlework Monday - Still Growing

in #needleworkmonday7 years ago (edited)

Every time I hear someone thinks they are a complete failure for not knowing what to do with their lives, or mainly just not feeling like they are doing this whole life thing right, I tell them "that's okay, you are still growing."

And nobody says that.

It’s like as soon as you hit 18, you are all grown up. That's it. This is who you are, and there is nothing else in the world that will cause you as much pain as your teens did.

Wrong. You’re STILL growing up and figuring shit out. And that's completely fine.

A couple of days ago I was talking to my mother about this, and she said: "you know, I wonder what my 60s will feel like. Your 50s are a complete mess because you start to feel all the effects of getting old like body aches you aren't really used to, but I have a feeling my 60s are going to be great".

And it gave me one hell of a perspective.

Regardless of our age, we are still stepping into unknown ground. Yes, you are in your 50s, but you haven't been 60 yet, for obvious reasons so you can't possibly know how that's going to feel. Therefore, it's okay to feel a bit lost.

With that in mind, I embroidered this piece right here as a friendly reminder that you are allowed to feel lost and scared as years go by. It's normal to feel trapped from time to time.

This is my entry for today's #needleworkmonday, a project that encourages the crafters of Steemit to share their work. So, I invite you all to spread the word and join this growing community of crafters so we can inspire each other and, hopefully, create more art in the process.

This is so beautiful @agsttne! Both the artwork and and the sentiment. I love that this is the message you chose to send out on New Year's Day. Looking forward to your next #needleworkmonday post!

Thank you so much!! I can't wait to see some of your work here too!

Hi @agsttne! I love this piece that you have created, and the messaging that goes along with it. It is so true that we are always growing, changing and learning. While I've met a few folks who would like me to THINK they have life all figured out, I'm pretty sure most of us are as lost as the next. Beautiful needlework for this #NeedleworkMonday post. Glad to see you here!

That was precisely what I was trying to convey, especially with the new year entering, I know a lot of people feel like their 2017 weren't as good as they should have but we are always growing and becoming new, and hopefully, better versions of ourselves. We still have another chance to start over and do it better. Thank you so much for stopping by!

My pleasure! Can't wait to see you again on #NeedleworkMonday!

I so love this embroidery work you created @agsttne! I really love how your work always includes a message, this one is really encouraging and true. I think as long as we are alive on this earth there is always room for growing and learning. Every time we learn and grow we better ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing with us today and for this lovely artwork! You are very talented with your cross stitch!

Yes! I loved that, "as long as we are alive on this earth there is always room for growing and learning". I couldn't have said it better, we tend to underestimate ourselves when we hold so much power within us that's even ridiculous how oblivious we are of it. Hopefully this 2018 will bring more knowledge and self-love to everyone ❤️ thank you so much for your kind words!

I love that you are able to express your thoughts with your embroidery. It certainly makes each piece special and original!

Beautiful piece and thoughts. Growth is life.

Hello @agsttne and needleworkmonday group... I am learning about steemit so please forgive my intrusion... I found you and was really happy to find this post... I'm at your mum's age - learning about aches and strenghtening the 'core'... in all aspects... I normally do a drawing everyday with a friend, but this week I will try to embroider something too ... All the best..
