I'm still working on the first of these to Buffalo Mitten things. It hasn't been coming together as fast as I'd hoped because work keeps getting in the way and then life keeps getting in the way.
This weekend I drove three and a half hours over to Bozeman, MT to visit some family for our three-year-old nieces birthday. She had a unicorn themed everything. Including an adorable headband with a unicorn horn on it. Not certain I'll never get invited back after I pointed out to her that she could go stabby stabby with her head now and as a 3-year will... She did. At least it was a soft-ish unicorn horn!

I was glad to see that the blanket I made for her is still in use and keeping her warm at night. It's colors just happened to match the theme so it worked out perfect to have out and in use this weekend.

On Sunday I snuck out of the house to go yarn shopping because the yarn stores in Bozeman have some pretty nifty stuff. Yes I picked up a beginners felting kit because I'm being inspired by few of you. And I saw a gorgeous yarn for hats there and I had to pick it up too. There's still a skein of yarn there I kind of want... I may have to send my mother-in-law back for it... It was the colors of a monarch butterfly butterfly's wing!

My job starting to get busy, I tend to travel a lot during the summer so I'm going to be on the road a bit over the next few weeks and not getting as much done as I would like. I'm trying to prepare a few small, portable projects. On the plus side- if I run out of yarn while on the road I get to explore new stores!

I laughed until I had tears in my eyes over the "stabby stabby" comment, @jamethiel! You made my day! The cake..just.. uh. ha ha haa ha haaaaa!

So okay, I'm straightened up now. and drooling over the skein of yard, and I don't even kint!

I simply CANNOT WAIT to see what you do with felting! A unicorn, perhaps? Heee. Seriously though, I really do want to see what you do next.

And I love the blanket! Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!

I wish I had gotten a video of her walking up to her dad and totally goosing him. He was washing some dishes and did NOT expect that to happen. It still gives me giggles. She also kept trying to put the headband on their Dog, a fluffy Bichon mix who is more patient than a dog should be. Unfortunately his head was too small to fit it. :)
I might have to try a unicorn, the wool colors I got are a bunch of pastels. Hmmm... good idea!
Thank you!
And a Happy #Needleworkmonday to you as well!

Hilarious!!

If you made my daughter such a beautiful blanket I'd invite you back. LOL! Malabrigo! Yum.... that's going to be a pretty hat! Looking forward to seeing it.

Thank you!

I Love the blanket and the colors on it!! I especially love the new yarn you picked out...those colors are sooo pretty!!

I’m so glad to hear that you have been inspired by the other needleworkers and are trying felting now! That’s what I love so much about sharing every week!! It’s exciting to be inspired in new ways to try new things! Looking forward to seeing your next projects develop! 😊

Thank you! I'm going to be on the road for the next few weeks so I spent today trying to get the complex parts of the mitten so I can work on the easy parts during the trip. :)

Smart move! 👌🏽

The carrot cake was tasty, thanks for bringing me a piece.

yarn of beautiful color. from it should turn out a beautiful thing

Thank you!

That cake is amazing! I saw a sign in a gift shop once "the unicorn made me do it" - I've been thinking how I could use it ever since. Great time with your niece and family. I like that malabrigo yarn, beautiful colours, look forward to seeing the hat.

It was amazing! The top was some type of lemon vanilla cake and the bottom section was a gluten-free carrot cake. The lady who did it only makes cakes for family and friends. She could be a professional I think, she does such a great job.
I look forward to posting pictures of the hat when I get a chance to actually make it!

That is so cute. I wish I had a niece but all I have are two rascally nephews, I still love them anyway!~

We have three nieces and a nephew, all but 1 live pretty far away or are too old to spoil, so I do what I can with the one I have access too. :)
