Now, I am a knitter but ...

... I tried out my hand at crochet. Since I was new to knitting and crocheting, I wanted to figure out which I enjoyed more. So, I crocheted a huge shawl following a free pattern. It is safe to say that I am definitely a knitter.
A few things I learnt from and am appreciative of this project:

  • The recommended yarn weight/yarn fiber is probably the right one,
  • Crochet is a sophisticated manipulation of yarn, and
  • There are some (very) talented designers providing their patterns for free

Hello @purlisland! Welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday! I see @muscara has already welcomed you and given you a brief about our community :)

I am just the opposite. I’ve been crocheting for a long time and am in the process (when I find the time which is hardly ever) of learning how to knit. I don’t think I will ever be as comfortable with knitting as I am with crocheting. I’m not sure if that’s because the craft you start off with first just makes more sense or just because you have had time to get that comfortable with it.

The Shaw you made is really nice. I like the contrast of the black with the green and blue.

Thank you so much for sharing with us this week. We encourage everyone to share the process of their work, so no need to wait until your project is completed. We’d love to see what you’re working on :)

Hey crosheille, thanks for the very warm welcome! I have so many works in progress, so I'll have quite a few posts to be made haha

You’re very welcome. 😊

Lol that’s great to know then, looking for to seeing more of your work ~

It seem's the distribution of the token didn't work. I'll try again for some !BEER

I'm new here, so I wasn't sure haha! Thanks for the beer!

Just ignore everything that is too much - write about the things you're interested in and read what you like. Everything else comes with time :)

Lovely pattern, with the knobs and the eyelets. And I like the blue-green yarn :)

Knowing how to crochet helps with knitting, too: Dropped stitches can be rescued quite easily with a crochet hook and binding off works better that way, too.

Crocheting is thirsty work, have a !BEER

Good point about the dropped stitches! I have used my hook a handful of times while knitting.
