Needlework Monday – Saving belt

in #needleworkmonday7 years ago

Hi, my Steemit colleagues on hobby !!!

Today is the #NeedleworkMonday!!! I want to show you what happened to me from my idea :)
My parents bought me a few dresses with a belt. The dresses are very beautiful, the belt was also very beautiful. But look what it turned into after I put it on several times.

It turned out to be a one-time belt :))) It could only be thrown out and then bought a new one. But I had an idea: to try to save it. I crocheted a long strip.

I ran out of yarn and I added another. This part will be on the inside of the belt so I did not worry that the threads are slightly different in color. Here's what happened:

At least it's more beautiful than the belt itself :))) The yarn was a bit denser than I needed, so the belt was tight. I was not upset because it was my first attempt at saving belts. I hope that the second time I will get better :)

I wish you creative inspiration and look forward to your work !!!

its beautiful and creative. the other type of belt is almost like a paper, this would last you more

I also hope so

Great way to extend the life of the belt that was coming apart. so many of those belts just aren't made to last, they are just made to look pretty. I really like your crocheted work that you could then slip around it and use to help hold it together.

Thank you! unfortunately belts also do one-time use. every time to buy a new belt - no money is not enough

What a clever idea and it turned out so beautifully! I always learn from my crafting projects!

Thank you!

Great idea, but for me.... I think belts are not made for me. I always feel like I cannot breathe anymore while wearing a belt (or anything which is a little tighter around my waist) 😱😱
But the pattern you used is lovely

I understand you. summer in Israel is very hot and I can not wear a belt either. he hinders me at this time of year

Great idea @tali72! I don't have a belt to do it but your post inspires me to make a knitted or crocheted belt for summer :)

I also wanted to make such a light belt for summer clothes but I'm afraid he will not keep in shape

What a great idea! It turned out really nice! Could you put a new hole in the belt to make up for the yarn padding making it smaller?

I did not understand your idea, phoenixwren. explain, please, more

If you punch a hole further toward the end of it, so you can wear it without it being too tight.

aaaaaa! I realized. Thank you. the belt does not press me. he became thicker because of the yarn. if I took a thinner yarn, it would not be so thick

You are crafty! GRIN What a great way to save and reuse a belt! I bet this would work for people who want to jazz up their camera straps too! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I am pleased to!

That's really creative! It turned even better. Can you take it off though for washing?

Thank you! I thought about it: the white color of the yarn is not practical. the knitted part is easy to remove from the belt, but I want to try with time to gently wash it without removing it.

Let the dirt and stain be an additional color to it haha!

For a first time youdid pretty good! I wish I had this idea when I was tossing a lot of my belts to the side. I think I'll sew a covering for a few and see how it turns out . thanks for that nice idea. Also I think adding different colours of wool to the crotchet covering would also be cool.

you're right! it will be great: bright and fun. I chose the color of the yarn suitable for my dresses

You never cease to amaze me Tala!! What a clever way to upcycle your bet!!! I love the crochet design you chose, it is so pretty. This is really a great idea and if I ever need to do this I’ll remember this post!! What method did you use to stitch it together to fit the belt?

Thanks for sharing!!

I measured the length of the belt and I tied a crochet the same length of strip. but of course I was mistaken and I had to (as usual :))) ) adjust a little under the belt. yet I did not think about the thickness of the knitted part when you put it under the belt buckle. and I also had to adjust it a little to that part. I think that next time I have to knit not in length but in width. then it is easier both with the size and with the fit

Thank you for the details! I’m glad you figured it out and adjusted it as you needed. It really worked out well.

It's really pretty with the crocheted cover on it!! That was a really good idea! You could have fun with that, and make covers in different colors.

you're right! it's a good idea to make belt covers of different colors
