For this week I'll like to showcase a velvet material that I sewed. I added a little lace to the back and a band at the front.
Velvet I read is mostly worn by the noble and royalties, so permit me to have a garment of nobility.
It is really not easy to work with as it rolls forward sometimes and sort of stretches. This makes it kind of difficult to pin a proper measurement for it and makes it a task to sew.
Added to that my old nemesis (iron) played a fast one on me😓. The lace I was sewing on got burnt scorched. I had to sew a patch of lace on it to cover it up. I couldn't let the burn rob me of my joy.
The dress turned out well in the end and I hope to wear it to events. Although I'm thinking of adding sleeves to it since the weather is beginning to get a bit chilly.
Hey everyone happy #needleworkmonday guys, hope our weekend was fabulous. Mine was characterized by a lot of rain and really heavy wind. Took down a lot of stuff but we're fine.
Good post @wondermaey.. Good luck for you dear...
Please follow and upvote me... Thank you
Thanks
I like the colour of velvet you choose, it looks good on you, I like the lace, I don't even see the mark from your old nemesis . nice work
Thank you☺, I was sure to hide the deed of my nemesis lol!
It turned out nice, it is rare to see velvet used for anything in my region since it is a bit of a pain to maintain. Good job!
It is a bit of a pain honestly, it just kept on stretching like it was smiling or something. Thank you for your comment☺
Again I am amazed how you make clothes (and I am still envious)! You look beautiful in you dress and the colour suits you perfectly. I think the different fabric at the waist was a very good decision as it draws the eye to you small waist (I cannot see any burned parts on the dress... you hid it well :-D)
I hope the weather gets better soon, although long velvety sleeves are perhaps very cool <3
(By the way I tried to sew stretchy velvet and it was like a pest: it slipped and turned and all in all did not behave. I had to hand stitch it… argh)
Thanks @neumannsalva, you know you amaze me and light up my spirit with your comments. Yeah the burned parts I tried to cover the best I could, it worked I guess. Lol! You hand stitched a velvet, that serves it right for its misbehaving attitude🤣

it fits with your body
Thank you.
I'm impressed with how it came out! Lace and velvet is a hot combination.
Did you use a pattern?
Thanks, I did not use a pattern, I'm not very familiar with using patterns but I'm learning tho

This looks yummy!! I've never worked with velvet so thanks for sharing your frustration with it. You do such beautiful work!
Thank you for dropping by @fibreartists
Hi @wondermaey. Beatiful work. I want to learn how to sew. Regards.
Thanks, I hope you do learn how to sew, it will be fun☺
I love how you used velvet for the front top and the lace design on the back. It really looks lovely on you! I’ve watched my mom work with velvet and I know it’s not an easy task. I love the waistline band. I’m so glad you didn’t let the burning incident stop you from finishing! Great job! 😊
Thanks @crosheille ! I'm looking to add crocheting skill by tuning in to those tutorials of yours, thanks for putting it up☺
You’re welcome! I would love it if you would join me. Hopefully you will have a good time and start crocheting your own masterpieces :D
Yayy! Ok I know I've been dragging my feet about this but I really want to try. I'll make an effort☺
Beautiful dress. You are very talented at sewing clothing.
Thanks @horazwiwik , you are just as talented , I saw that beautiful quilted mat you made☺
Thanks, hahaha the quilt that I will never make again in the future 😂
Gorgeous!! I do like the back side a lot! First I though I thought it is a flower printed fabric. Hmmm so the transparent lace lets it see through the blue velvet, very creative😍 it gives a unity as a whole. Very inspiring👏😊
Thanks @naomipangolin☺ it means much to me coming from a creative and skilled person like you!
wow! stunningly beautiful color fabric! It's a pity that the iron burned it but with a lace it will be even more beautiful. and instead of sleeves you can wear a beautiful cape or bolero from the same lace
Oh thanks for those suggestions@tali72, I didn't think of those suggestions . I was actually having mixed feelings about giving the dress sleeves, would definitely try those out and see the one I like best. Thanks☺
It's a lovely dress @wondermaey !
Your sewing is very inspiring and seeing you in the dress I thought that perhaps you have spare fabric to make an envelope-shaped clutch to go with your dress... I made a little drawing for you :
😊
Oh my gosh this lovely! I would definitely try this out! Wow thanks for taking the time to make a sketch @cryptocariad☺
Oh, what a lovely dress! The color is beautiful and I like how you accented the back with the lace and kept the front simple...it's like two dresses in one :) The band accents your waist nicely! I'm still in awe that you don't have to use patterns and now I'm in awe that you tackled velvet. I'm too scared to 😅
Thanks , I'm in that awe that you checked my post, amid all you have going on, kids and quilting and the farm. My awesome is learning from your awesome ☺ . yeah velvet is kinda tricky but I'm positive that you can handle it.
