Good neighbors are like our family members and we can easily put our trust on them but bad neighbors? They are bothersome and the worst can become a nightmare. It is annoying when your neighbor blasts music late at night and you lose your sleep by saying WTF! And it is annoying when you keep listening to the abusive words by them, especially if you have kids.
Your luxurious home can become a piece of hell if your neighbors are nasty. We are unfortunate in this case because most of the time, our neighbors blast inappropriate songs from their deck and I end up saying "What the hell is going on dude?! Turn down the freaking volume."
So, if you're searching for a new home, don't forget to check the neighbors or else your life will no longer remain a life. If you're getting good neighbors and the house is also acceptable, then move forward. Such neighbors mean a lot. If the house is great but you have bad neighbors, and when you're sure that you couldn't deal with such neighbors, skip that house and move on.
But the question is, how you're going to spot that kind of neighbors? Let me share with you the tips that are going to help you spot such neighbors.
1 - Make sure that there are no nearby parks (grounds), at-least next to your house:
The first thing I usually see is the nearby grounds. If it's just a garden, then good but if it's a stadium like a basketball stadium or football stadium next to the house, I leave my decision on other findings because it's not a good enough reason to miss a good house. I mean, if other findings are positive enough and the only drawback is nearby grounds, then I will not really care for it since we can close our windows occasionally to reduce the volume of noise.
The problem with such grounds and stadiums is that they can be very loud during games. You will constantly hear their noise of shouting or fighting with each other and this might not be good for you. But if you think that such noise is acceptable for you, then go ahead.
2 - Go to see the house in the evening:
It is expected that there won't be people in the neighborhood at the work time and if you've seen the home only in daylight (working hours) then make sure to go at least once or twice after dark to find out how good or bad the neighbors are. In our country, visiting at the house at night also helps us to figure out if the area is good by analyzing the activity of people at night time.
Though you might not be able to uncover the late night partiers this way, you could at least meet the neighbors and ask their opinion if the house is good enough. That way, you will get an opportunity to interact with them, and conversation exposes the personality of anyone. You will see people who are not there during the daytime, so visiting in the evening provides a good snapshot.
3 - Search for the nearby store and ask the store owner:
This is a smart call. If the store and its owner spent enough time in your area, they might be able to tell you more than what you know. Ask him the value of the house you're interested in, and the possible issues. Also, make sure to ask him the main question related to neighbors like what kind of people live in your neighborhood.
Ask the store owner whether there are pets in the house of neighbors and how well-trained are the pets. You won't like to keep hearing the voice of a barking dog. If you have kids then searching those neighbors, whose kids could play with your kids and enjoy together, is a nice goal.
If there is no such store in the area, you can ask the neighbors. Hopefully, you can find one who has been there for a while and knows the area well. They can tell you more about whether it is a good place to love and what issues may exist.
Good neighbors are a blessing. Such neighbors share their happy moments with you and share your pain too. Over time, if you are fortunate, you can develop great friendships this way.

You know how I avoid bad neighbors? I ain't got none! =D That's how
Hahah I would try this :D
Good fences make good neighbor haha very nice
There was a bad neighbor. It's just not what I think. If you can understand and complement each other's feelings, you will surely be a good neighbor. The process of having a good neighbor is to have a bad neighbor on my side. If your bad neighbors are sick, take care of them around. The bad neighbor will give you a great deal of strength someday.
Having good neighbors is crucial especially when you have 3 little boys. However where ever you go if you check the sex offender list your neighborhood prob looks like it has chicken pox..stay safe never let your kids roam alone and teach them what to do if a stranger comes up to them!
Well that's true
When I moved into my place, I straight up just caught someone's attention on the street and asked them. I've done this a few times before, and it's saved me from some pretty bad places, apparently.
seems like I've got a lot of good neighbours
No NO no. I think bad neighbors are those assholes who never say hi; The ones who break into your house; The ones who stand outside getting drunk all day with other weirdos who are always in the neighborhood but don't live there; The ones that you spot from a mile away.
Try being nice to people and even if they are assholes in general, they might not be assholes to you!
Lolz...you can that in a developed country like yours, not Africa where i come from. Neighbour turns from nightmare to monsters and you can't do them anything,,where is law? No law in africa is effective, except those laws that brings money to the top guys..that's why our kids(African) grow up lawlessnessly. Africa neighbourhood is a hell. Not all is a mess but 85% are!
I love your post, i will resteem it
Hey @communitycoin,
I think asking the store-owner for directions is literally the best method. He knows the nooks and crannies. Make him/her your first friend in the new environment and you will definitely enjoy your stay. Expecially if its a chitty-chatty store-keeper. They will even tell you the toilet situation of each building there. What the previous occupants used to buy. What they crapped lolx. Etcz.
So thank you @steemist!

I agree. When I first moved into my home I had one neighbor. An elderly lady which was great for me as I prefer quiet peacefulness. All of that peace and quiet went out the window however when a new neighbor built their home nearly against my property line. It was quite s shock upon returning from a good long wander to discover I had a new neighbor. Since these fine folks have moved in it has been a bit of hell indeed as they are loud obnoxious types. I certainly miss the piece and quiet. Eventually I shall move and I will have no neighbors for a mile in any direction. I am a seeker of peace after all
wow the tip #3 is mindblowing, really good advice!
Ive been in war with my neighbors like for 10 years by now, last time we fought i shoot their windows with my gotcha. I hate them
This is a good advice, even though people don't really think about such issues when choosing places of residence. I've lived at such neighbourhoods before and I can tell you that nothing sucks like that!
Really good advice thanks for sharing @communitycoin but the problem if you are living in a building like me in an appartment and the building is full with bad neighbors what can i do hahaha
great post wonderful thank you so much for sharing gooooood luck
So, my family moved into an apartment last year. We loved it and loved the location but on move in day, this woman approached us saying that she was a nervous woman and didn’t like noise.
We were like okay...
Knowing that we have a 5 year old lol, things were probably gonna get messy since she lived below us. DIRECTLY BELOW.
Let’s just say that she has been the worst neighbor ever. She yells at every single person who drives through the parking lot- she babysits her grandkids and we listen to them scream all night as she “punishes” them.
I needed this post a year ago :( we’re moving out ASAP but we still have a couple months on our lease.
You live and learn.
If you have neighbors who party quite a lot during the day and early evening hours one thing I found that works rather well is take out your lawnmower and tie the safety bar to the handle, turn it on and let it run as close to their house as you can set it. That pretty much gets the message across and if it don't wait to early in the morning, do the same thing while they are still sleeping. But usually no one like's a lawnmower for backup effects to their music.
Wow..........Nice post.....

they say that: the neighbors are your closest relative, I pass once a friend died in front of my door of a heart attack and before my friends or relatives supported me I first had the help of the neighbors
