4/5/25 - Thoughts from a Lazy American!

in #neoxian25 days ago

So there's been a ton of talk about the tariffs and I suppose overall political landscape in the USA.

I don't pretend to have all the answers but that's the difference between a lot of Trump haters and myself. I have stances on things I'm quite firm on and stances on things I admit I may be wrong about. The vibe I get from many Trump haters is that it's their way or the highway and that there's always the absolute right move to play. There's always a flawless decision to make and that Trump outwardly seems to choose the worst decision, I guess just for fun. Right.

People have this assumption that America is a just absolute wonderland and no struggles exist here. The amount of weaponized empathy and emotional manipulation directed at America is stunning.

They say being poor in America is so much better than being poor in some other countries. Hmmmm sure, let's have a 'who is poorer?' competition and see how productive that is.

Yeah, I'm a lazy American right? To be completely frank, I do work very hard and I'll GLADLY display my work ethic against frankly anybody on this planet. Seriously, I have never made a more serious statement in my entire life. Drop me anywhere on this planet and I promise you on everything I love that this lazy American will hold his own if not absolutely dust any other person in any environment.

Meanwhile, we have rich politicians, 'artists' who make money from selling art that is absolutely awful, only fans 'models' (HAHAHA), and countless other ways people make good livings doing questionable jobs or trades. Not saying these industries or avenues to make money shouldn't exist but I think the point is pretty clear.

Tariffs are bad or risky because rich people might not be as rich? Poor people might get poorer?

I am supposed to like be scared of this? Seriously? If I'm already very poor and these tariffs make me more poor, um ok? I'm sorry the dumb lazy American is really struggling here. Maybe my gender studies degree would have helped me understand this better.

I heard some dude on CNN say that an iPhone could cost $3500 if it's made in America vs the current price of $1000. OH NO!!!! NOT iPHONES!!!!!!! How am I supposed to live, how could I ever stand for such a world where iPhones are more expensive??? Food might get more expensive? Yes, because I'm totally just eating like a king now LMAO.

The utter audacity and assumptions about America is actually stunning. Please, take a walk through my town and continue telling me how blessed I am. Hilarious.
