So I always knew Angela was important and everything but I am now seeing how she seems very important, or powerful at least, in this re-read of the series. I suspect she's a lot more skillful with magic than most realize. I also have suspicions that she is involved with time travel to a certain extent. That's just a guess though. Or she's very old.
Eragon gifting gold to Gedric and Jeod was an A+ wholesome move. The way Eragon extracted the three gold balls out of the ground was super cool and goes to show just how much power Eragon really does have, pretty crazy. Eragon gifting Gedric the first gold ball was so charming, repayment after all this time when he stole leather from Gedric in Eragon. I still remember reading that part of Eragon as a kid, good times. Seeing Gedric be grateful that his leather helped Eragon, Saphira and the Empire in such a big way was such a special moment. Between that news and the gold ball, I could feel how happy that moment made Gedric. Eragon being able to thank a hometown guy like Gedric in such a big way was just outstanding.
I was also very happy to see Eragon gift Jeod and Helen a gold ball. Jeod is such a cool, chill dude and he's helped the Varden and Carvahall in just numerous, numerous ways over many years. Again, another original character getting paid back for all his efforts. I mean, the lore with him runs pretty deep in this story. He's been solid and trustworthy and his own journey is really quite dramatic and interesting. He was of pretty high importance in the Varden many years ago and was close with Brom. For years he was in isolation in a large somewhat remote city by the ocean named Teirm. Jeod expressing in 'Gifts of Gold' the reality he lived in for close to two decades thinking Brom was dead and having no certainty the status of Saphira's egg was really wild. All of a sudden Brom shows up with a new Rider and then shortly after Brom dies for real. His perspective in all this is pretty nuts, all while trying to live a normal enough life and maintain a marriage with seemingly varied success. Jeod's wife Helen is a much stronger, and better person than I originally thought and she seems determined to turn that gold ball into a new life. Jeod and Helen's relationship is so real and just authentic. I look forward to seeing them hopefully turn things around, their story has been fascinating. I did not really find their story too exciting when I was younger, these days, I definitely see their story differently.
Eragon made amazing choices in who he gave those gold balls too, he still has one left and I believe I know who he is going to give it too.
Later Eragon gets a new unique style of sword, which is surprisingly fun, followed by a nice fantastic flight with Saphira.
These chapters were really super chill, and interesting. The first ten chapters felt a bit more gritty, but right now things feel warm and wholesome and it's just a pleasant read on so many levels. These books are simply a great escape, a great break from reality. A mix of old and new, and times are changing for everyone it feels. With all these things changing, I can sense how much Eragon and Saphira are enjoying their life together and enjoying growing together as people.
I am starting to feel much more connected to a lot of these characters and I remember just how good these books get and how great Inheritance is.
I'm ready for more of this story and to get to Murtagh eventually!
