Is Profit Still Profit?

A friend just got an airdrop worth $1,600 but he wasn’t allowed to claim it for two days. He was so excited about the $1,600 airdrop so he mentally made plans for $1,600, hoping for claim date. On claim date he was shocked to see that the value has reduced to $400 all the way from $1,600. I felt really sad for him, because how do you mentally reconfigure your mind down to $400 after making $1,600 plans. He finally claimed it but didn’t sell it, he left it, fortunately for him the token pumped and now it’s worth $700 and now he is stuck in the dilemma of selling or not selling.

People will advise him to sell, people like me, but at this point I don’t know what to tell him. Because, if he had sold at $400 he won’t have the $700 he currently has. And who knows, because I have watched the token pump from $0.03 to $0.8 before. I have advised him to do whatever is good for him, if he thinks selling now is good for him, he should do it, and if he feels leaving it is good for him, the. He should do it. Personally, I would mentally dissociate my mind from the money so I can have peace of mind. But profit is profit right? Imagine if he sold now and in 2 weeks time it pumps 10X, meanwhile he never did anything with the money instead he left it as stables on his wallet.

Crypto is unpredictable, at the end of the day, profit is still profit, you just have to decide what risk you should take. Then when you take your profit, it’s okay to feel bad when it pumps beyond your expectations but remember it could have also dumped beyond your expectations.

Sort:

That’s a tough position to be in. Perhaps sell half and take the money or sell 3/4 and keep a little for future pumps. I’ve been there and it’s not an easy decision to make!

lol, the token pumped

He could sell to recover his initial investment, maybe a little more. Then he could let the rest ride as house money.

he got it for free, but the token pumped after

sure, but whatever it was worth when he got it, he can cash out. Let the rest of it ride.

I will rather take profit and leave the rest for future pumping.

he took the risk, it pumped now he has taken profit

Wow that's good to here
