I've actually quite enjoyed the dark and slightly damp, overcast days of late.
There's something very Dickensian about this kind of weather just before Christmas, it's precisely the kind of weather Xmas lights are designed for methinks!
Mostly Challenging...
Granted it's been a bit of a struggle getting up in the mornings, especially when I'm working full time (oops!) and running has been a massive challenge, it's tough to get up in the morning when it's pitch black outside.
I've met that challenge by mainly just not running! (Again, oops!) Well mostly, I mean I did get out for two consecutive runs Monday and Tuesday WB 16th December, which is pretty good I think!
Another challenge is it being dark when I finish work, I think that's one of the bleakest things.. spend all day looking at a screen, a brief trip out at lunch and then it's dark on yr way home.
But worst of all is the driving in the dark, I've done a fair bit of that recently, especially around the local country lanes, it's all a bit grim, and I've got a few London runs coming up in the dark soon too.
Upsides of these dark days...
I mean I guess it is what it is, Britain is seasonal, it's darker in Winter, this is Winter, it is dark.
I mean what else can I say, it is supposed to be like this, and despite the challenges I do kind of like it!
I like the sound of the heating coming on 20 mins or so before I get up, I love that sleepy or half sleep phase in December in bed, and getting up isn't too bad as my jobs are not that stressful, at least it's not like being a teacher back in the day, I don't have to start until 9.00 which means I can get up with the light just about if I don't go for a morning run!
And it's Christmas drinks this week and then Christmas, and by the 21st we are getting lighter again.
And by the time February hits, we can all feel it getting lighter, and that's only six weeks away, so I guess one has to make the most of these dark days as they won't be around for much longer!
Ow men those dark days totally suck mucho. Everyone drives like a monster (including moi) and it feels dangerous with all of the damp Windows.
Me thinks as well that christmas and lights were brought in to make people not want to sleep eternally.
Luckily i went for the sun soak. It helps with the mood big time. I totally get those pensionados heading out all winter...
I 100% get the going abroad for winter thing, makes total sense to me!
If I could have stayed in Arizona.., I would have. I one for don't enjoy these days at all.
But they are so British!
I'm WFH today, huddled in a heated blanket.., with freezing feet. When they freeze a little more I will turn on the foot warmer.., it's hardly fun!
I don't like that kind of weather, so winter :)
It is dark dark dark!
it does affect so many people' mood and even health
True!
