We live a good amount of our waking hours in autopilot. We commute, work at our desk and come home with our minds on the past and future, but mindfulness is key to a life well lived.
Living in the moment can be hard as we are inundated with noise, obligations, fears, regret and routine, so how do we master this skill?
Simply put we must hold each though. We must really take the time to consider our surroundings and stimuli. If it is warm outside and we are in a forest, we should consider the leaves, animals and the grass beneath our feet. We often engage our autopilot in the familiar, so we need to put ourselves in new circumstances and disengage that tired old autopilot. Think back to the wonder you had as a child. Why was that time so bright? S Idk imply put we were in the moment, so we need to put ourselves in novel situations to regain this.
Autopilot may be a sign of overstimulation or comfort. Both lead to stagnation. If it is cold outside, consider not using the heater in your car. Feel the actual environmental temperature and roll with it.
