He is renown as the first scientist of the Nepal. Born in 1871 as the son of the third rana prime minister Bir Shumser, his interest was in the field of the innovation and Technology. He served as the general in the Royal Nepal army as well. He was firearm designer and innovater. As he was born in the noble Rana family, he had the rare privilege to study and he was tutored in his own palace by some English teacher. He also attended the Durbar High School. In his early childhood he developed huge interest in the sports and music as well. Later he was send to the japan with other 5 tutor where he learn about the Mechanical engineering and handling mechanical equipment. In his lifetime he saw the many up and down of the Nepali politics. Despite of being interested in the Politics, He was attracted by the mechanics and ammunition.
He always wanted to manafecture the equipments that had been used by the Neplease army inside the country. So after reading about the British Catalogue he started factory at the Jamal, Sundarijal, balaju, and Megchan. At the end of the 1956 BS, He imported car form the Ford Motor and tried to make a new motor by himself. Some of his major contribution are as follows
- He was a first man to produce electricity in Nepal.
- He set up the seven boiler rice mill and wind motor at various part of the country.
- He set up the leather tanning factory In balaju.
- He played the crucial role in the modernization of the Nepal army.
- He invented some of the guns like Bir Gun, Dhir Gun,Garderner Gun, Ge-rifle,double barreled machine gun
He died at the age of the 35. It is said that he was killed by the Chandra shumser to keep his ruling safe.
