I don't know if it is practical or feasible, but when you described your dilemma, the first thing that came to my mind was the "canary" protocol. You have, for example, a box on your homepages that says "none of my clients became informants this week". This must be the truth. When that box disappears, you are not saying that one of your clients became an informant that week - you are only not lying, and it is not your fault when others draw the right conclusions...?
