I don't know how I heard about steemit, or why I decided to check it out, but I am glad I did. I think someone posted something in a youtube comment about creators switching over to steem because it supports free speech, my dude. I signed up, but I sat on the acceptance email for months. I wish I would have started sooner. As (probably) with most newbies who come, it is all very confusing. "what the hell is SteemPower? I hope it doesn't have anything to do with those stinky kids with the goggles who make old-timey things out of copper and wood". But things start to make sense the longer you're on the site and if you do a little digging. I've been lucky enough to get a couple decent payouts on some of my posts, which felt really good. It looks like the streaming is kind of new and hasn't really taken off yet. I hope that changes and more people hang out on dlive.io. Steemit feels fresh and clean, and has a very focused community.
The only negative thing I can say about the steem community, is that there is maybe too much focus on crypto itself. Every popular post seems to be about steem or Bitcoin. Don't get me wrong, I understand why this is, we all have an interest in crypto (that's why we are here), but I think it might scare some creators or viewers away from the site because they here the word "crypto" and their minds go back to the time when a drunk guy at the bar cornered them for an hour to talk about how amazing Bitcoin is, and how "it's decentralized man, DECENTRALIZED!". All I'm saying is let's make this place a cool area of the internet, one that is open and free and supports all different kinds of interests and people.
Enjoy your weekend my dudes!
