RE: New here / post #1 (EVER)

in #new5 years ago

Good afternoon (here) @littlekidogo. Just found this post "browsing around" and noticed your comment on another post, so "stopped by" to see if I could help you out. Appears you might need a little ”boost” … 😉

As you likely have already experienced, getting started on your "journey" on our Steem blockchain is not for the uhhh ... "faint of heart,” as there is a lot to understand, if you want to really feel comfortable. So as not to overwhelm you, here would be my “starter list” of steps which I highly recommend you take, at your earliest convenience:

  1. For the best user experience today, use the SteemPeak interface. Far better than SteemIt, which is how most of us get started out “in here.” Amongst its many features, you can bookmark posts which – trust me – you are going to want to do early and often, until you get more settled.
  2. For the best information available on all associated with your Steem account, use SteemWorld, developed and maintained by the brilliant German developer, @steemchiller. You will always want to be “checking in,” with this app, to see how you are doing and to access just about every feature you will ever need.
  3. Both #1 and #2 are heavily dependent (as is everything else on the Steem blockchain) upon accessing your private keys for the permission to do everything. Like posting, upvoting, commenting, etc. To “automate” this, the best available tool today is KeyChain, which is a Chrome extension. Of course, this means you can use it with Google’s Chrome browser. I and many others prefer the Brave browser, which fully supports Chrome extensions and is far superior to Chrome in protecting your privacy, among other things (like being linked to its own cryptocurrency – BAT).
  4. All Steem blockchain posts are indexed by the tags you assign to them. In the case of this one, the best tag is introduceyourself This tag is monitored regularly by many of your fellow Steemians and you would have received many welcoming comments. But, as written, sadly no one will know it exists, unless they “stumble on to it,” as I have.
  5. Last, but not least, you will want to make it a routine matter to tag individual account names, so they will know you have mentioned them in whatever you may chose to say. For example, I have “tagged” you above, by simply putting the “@” symbol in front of your account name.

Once you’ve digested this a bit, you are likely to have questions. If I can help you with them or anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask. I am “in and out,” so you will not likely (since you are on the other side of the world … 😉) get a quick response, but I promise you, I will reply (if you tag me, per #5 … 😊)

Until we “meet” again, all the best to you and yours, for a better tomorrow!

If you want to "dive into the deep end" sometime, in my encouragement post, writing about the single biggest payout I had received, I wrote about what I referred to as “the Challenge.” After “Chapter One” of my journey “in here” was over, I decided to do something about it. This is what I wrote …

”You are reading what I would like to have been quickly introduced to, when I was where you are right now.”

… in the introduction of my “Flying Start” and “User's Guide” posts. You may find them of value in getting started. They are somewhat dated now, but still pretty solid, for the most part ...

Oh wow! Thanks so much for this, I just quickly scanned through your reply, but will make time to read through the guides, really need it and am really grateful for the reach out! Sure I'm gonna have some questions, yes, so will get back to you with those soon enough ;)
