Ah, idioms! Love those @bengy!
Well, we're in the US... and these are somewhat from all over, though:
"Jumping the Shark." Derived from an episode in the final season of the TV show "Happy Days;" means pulling a clearly desperate stunt in hopes of reviving something that should just be allowed to die.
"That dog'll hunt!" A common expression from when we lived down in Texas; basically means an idea that will work.
"Lost his/her vertical hold!" Another old southern US expression; basically means crazy/nutty; derived from early days in TV where the image would sometimes roll from top to bottom or vice versa.
