I am a Middle School Math Teacher in St. Louis County. This is my 30th year in the field. I am currently teaching in the district within which I live and grew up. I have had several different teaching experiences, including working at a tutoring center and teaching at a children's home. For the last several years, I have taught 8th-grade Mathematics and Algebra (6th-8th grade students). I am also certified and have taught Middle School Science. This program was recommended to me because I began my Masters Program back in 2006, but took a 14-year hiatus. The program I had originally begun with was no longer available. I was excited about the program as I have been participating in groups at school studying ways to Personalize Learning for students.
My goals have been to learn ways to be more innovative and creative in my mathematics lessons. However, I feel like I have learned more about myself this past year. I have developed and reflected on ideas that I can share with my collegues and my students in helping them in the global citizenship journey. I am still yearning for ideas specific to my mathematics teaching.
