The #DeleteFacebook campaign that has been trending on every social media in the last few days .
Facebook had more than $50Bn wiped out from the stock market as the news spread about the data scandal their name got involved in with another company leading this called Cambridge Analytica.
Cambridge Analytica (CA) were involved with harvesting information on millions of Facebook profiles without user’s knowledge or consent. This information contained status updates, likes, profile content, their friend’s profile pages, etc. The information was then used to develop a propaganda message that would influence users’ perception to different political views. This is similar to micro targeting with various political messages so they vote for Trump for example or they believe Trump is a better candidate than others.
The company Cambridge Analytica may have possibly influenced more than 200 elections worldwide and there have been allegations that they may have also been involved with the Brexit campaign. Though all these allegations are unfounded and the CA business owners claim it to be untrue at this moment. They are being investigated both the sides of the Atlantic.
With this as the context, have you thought about how your information that you share on Facebook can be used?
Facebook and other social media make billions in profits from our data .
“Anything that you put on social media may follow you forever even if you delete as it gets stored somewhere”.
If you want perfect privacy, then you want to stay away from social media – which is not possible for most of you because many of us use it for our business, work, keeping in touch with family & friends, etc.
Also recently @Citizenlab caught ISPs invisibly redirecting download requests for popular programs, injecting them with government spyware. Unencrypted web traffic is now probably a critical, in-the-wild vulnerability with 20-30% of top Internet sites affected. See link below .

These occurrences have been going on globally for a long time. The same thing was going on with the Super Cookies. Nothing on the Internet is private today, unless you encrypt at then network layer using keys and cipher that can only be decrypted by Quantum Computing .
This is like saying drunk driving is dangerous so all driving should be banned. Google is using this kind of reasoning to justify taking control of the open web.
so what is the solution? So what can you do to stay safe and make sure your data are private ?
The solution is skywire .
what is skywire?
Skywire is the new Internet. An incentivized mesh network poised to become the privacy protocol of the future.
Skywire is Skycoin's encrypted distributed mesh network; it will become the backbone of the global free Internet.
Skywire is one of the most exciting projects and a major pillar on the Skycoin platform. It is powered by skyminer. Skyminer is the hardware core of Skywire.
Skyminer provides the necessary computing, network connectivity, and storage capabilities to ensure the Skywire network is operating properly.
Skyminer acts as a dedicated virtual network and node on the mesh network. Users can become their own ISP and can freely use the encryption network Skywire .
How will it prevent data breach and enhance security?
Skywire comprehensively adopt a public and private key system for all its participants. Individuals, site resources, or the network nodes will be identified using the public key, a signature mechanism to ensure that data is not modified during transmission, thus maintaining data integrity.
The Skywire network ensures end-to-end encryption and link layer encryption as a default base layer of security. All nodes have separate public and private key. The encryption algorithm between nodes uses chacha20, which can avoid sniffing and injection attacks. They also support the Mesh network (it can run out IP network) and IP networks simultaneously. Mesh networks have dedicated hardware, and are in the development of a new generation of FPGA and ASIC-based systems.
Skywire takes control from ISPs and puts it back into the hands of users where it belongs .
Skywire’s goal is to make corporate internet service providers a thing of the past by giving the internet back to the people with its revolutionary privacy protocol. Peer-to-peer technology with a grassroots ethos, Skywire’s new networking protocol promotes net neutrality and sharing without blocking, slowdowns or censorship.
Skywire is faster and more secure than other Internet alternatives. It’s encrypted and private, which means that you can’t be tracked as you browse. It doesn’t suffer from throttling and other service outages that you get with large ISPs. Instead of paying $150 per month to be tracked by the telecom monopoly, Skywire users get Internet service that protects their privacy.
Skywire is built for users, by users. Unlike networks under corporate ISPs, the community makes decisions on Skywire. Nodes function based on a web-of-trust system. Malicious nodes can be cut off by collective agreement, and trustworthy nodes strengthened. Web-of-trust consensus makes Skywire immune to attacks, exploitation, and manipulation. It creates a system where everyone has a say
Skywire is testnet is ready and testing has been going on
In the Skywire project, the development team successfully established a test network and added the Pow billing mechanism to the test network so that some of the user nodes in the test network can reward coins based on the bandwidth they contribute.
The development team also patched vulnerabilities found in network testing, increasing the stability of the test network.
Skywire is re-inventing the Internet through a user-powered network that’s free safe and open to all.
This is an open invitation to join the project and protect you.
Be like the Dutch voters who have narrowly rejected a law that would give spy agencies the power to carry out mass tapping of Internet traffic delivering a setback to Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s government instead of sitting on the sideline and doing nothing . Be a positive disruptor in making a better and safer world

Nice reference to the Dutch referendum, mister Bivins!
Sad to say though, that law will be passed regardless, they will just add some meaningless clauses to appease most of the people, then continue to fuck everybody over. Governments are not a trustworthy counterparty when privacy and surveillance are involved.
At least the impending further encroachments on my privacy have motivated me to double down on getting more Skyminers out into the wild.
Thanks for yet another great post!
Skyfleet ahoy!
