The excellent Black Mirror series is back for a fourth season where the new technologies, but also our society as a whole, will take for their rank. Nothing and no one is spared, but always with realism and finesse ... despite sometimes rough situations.
It was in 2011 that Black Mirror arrived on Channel 4 in the UK. At the time already, the series was noted for its ability to accurately criticize both our society, human turpitude but also the possible drift of technological change. This, through three different stories, each episode lasting between 45 minutes and one hour.
And for that, the team did not hesitate to exceed the conventions, even to shock. Many still have in mind the National Anthem (S01E01) and its famous story of pork. But beyond its brilliance, Black Mirror was already a lot of finesse and a subtext often as exciting to decipher that the main action was interesting to follow.
Each episode is independent, with its own team, a cast and a different approach. A sort of tales of the crypt brought up to date, with less horror, more technology, but as much cynicism. The only common point that connects all these elements is Charlie Brooker, creator of the series that is involved in the composition of each episode.
Very nice...
