The United States and Iran have been seriously butting heads lately. After both nations labelling each other or certain branches of their military as terrorists, the US has sent the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln to the Persian Gulf in a show of force.
The White House and Pentagon made the decision after seeing intelligence that showed new activity on the part of Iranian-aligned forces since Friday, said two senior officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The need to send a clear and unmistakable message to Iran over some alleged intel that Bolton received is the reason behind this.
