Controversy with commercial sex workers in Meskiko's national team is similar to what has happened in recent years.

In September 2010, Mexican players partied with women after the match at Monterrey. On that occasion, the involved players were fined. Including a six-month suspension for defender Efrain Juarez and striker Carlos Vela.

Then in June 2011, shortly before the trip to Argentina to participate in the Copa America, the Mexican players also interacted with sex workers at a hotel in Quito, Ecuador. They were fined and suspended from the national team for six months. (ptr)
