Nvidia has announced Titan V, the first GPU in Volta series. It represents a big leap not only in performance, but also in price.
Performance
Although Nvidia states that Titan V produces 110 TFlops of power, more than 85% more than Titan XP, don't be confused: it is not raw graphical power, but the performance of 640 "tensor cores" designed for AI machine learning. The increase in graphical power is nevertheless impressive: 20% more than XP, now producing more than 15 TFlops.
Specifications
The GV100 processing unit found in Titan V has21.1 billion transistors paired with 12GB of fast HBM2 memory, 5120 CUDA cores, and 640 aforementioned “tensor cores” designed for ML.
Price
Titan V is available for purchase for 3000 USD.
Are cheaper Nvidia Volta's coming?
They definitely are, but as for now, Volta is too expensive to be competitive at mass-market, so don't expect new budget-friendly Volta videocards anytime soon. As for now, Nvidia will instead concentrate on improving existing Pascal solutions.
