Mac Miller was honored in his hometown of Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
Roughly more than 1,000 fans and supporters of the late star gathered at Blue Slide Park, which is said to have been one of his favorite places in town, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Social media snaps and video show the crowd gathered all holding candles and chanting his name. At other moments the group sang lyrics from his songs including “2009” from his latest album, “Swimming.”
There was also a moment of silence, which was interrupted by a fan shouting, “We love you, Mac!”
Miller’s grandmother also attended the memorial. She was spotted hugging and thanking supporters for their sympathies.
The troubled rapper died on September 7 of an apparent overdose. He was reportedly found at his San Fernando Valley, Calif. home after a friend contacted 911. He was 26.
But Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, was very open about his struggles with sobriety.
In the weeks before his sudden death, Miller crashed his car and was arrested with a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence. The case has since been dropped.
Funeral arrangements for Miller have not been released.
