The country is still hell bent on working miracles when it come to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Under the perception Republicans and President Donald Trump would bless the country with control over Washington, D.C., voters went against the grain of normalcy; voted for the outsider who switched political affiliation in order to supposedly work miracles for a dying country.
On his inaugural night, many from all political affiliations thought they were blessed.
Through out the entire eight years of Barack Obama, Republicans campaigned on needing control in Washington in order to ‘repeal and replace Obamacare, every word.’ They gained control of the House during the midterms of 2010, but the Senate was still controlled by Democrats. The excuse then was, we need control of the Senate as well.
They gained more seats during the 2012 election cycle, based on the same campaign, ‘repeal and replace Obamacare, every word,’ but that Congress was deemed as the worst Congress in the history of the country, especially when you consider that infamous government shut down for more than two weeks. The excuse again was, we need control of the Senate as well.
The 2014 midterms gave the party complete and total control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The country, or should we at least say, Republicans around the country was feeling pretty good about their party.
But Republicans came up with another excuse, they needed the White House as well, if they were to completely ‘repeal and replace Obamacare, every word.’
They didn’t need the White House, they had the constitutional authority invested in them by Article I, Section 9, Clause 7, and Article I, Section 8, Clause 1, which is the ‘taxing and spending Clause’ which gave the power over the taxes, the Supreme Court of the United States claimed Obamacare was.
After all the excuses and time, the country, in particularly Republicans started reading while reacting to the political culture of the party and determined, they were getting fed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when it came to ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Most Americans knew the Constitution could save and heal a country that was intentionally destroyed by the Obama administration. Over the course of those Republican campaign promises, the country could feel the spirit and the presence of ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ returning.
The presence of freedom was starting to take on a new look.
Republicans had gotten to the point, they themselves couldn’t explain what was going on around the country, but they knew, something warmer than a summer’s day and more wonderful than a glass of ice tea on that warm summer’s day was taking effect.
But it didn’t take long for the country, in particularly, Republicans to experience the taste of that peanut butter and jelly sandwich again. It didn’t take long to settle for waiting just a bit longer for that steak, baked potato and a side of order of broccoli.
Republicans lawmakers couldn’t repeal and replace Obamacare with total control over Congress and the Constitutional authority, they then needed the White House as well.
During the 2016 election cycle, that promise surfaced again, but hardly anybody was walking up to those seeking election, or re-election and shaking hands. Voters told them, through their message over the past six or so years; their souls have been abused, their liberties thirst for freedom and their pursuits of happiness needed to be reestablished.
Mr. Trump showed up, told the country as whole, I know you hungry for ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, come out, show up, vote for me and I will ‘repeal Obamacare, every word,’ after all, ‘what have you got to lose.’
He campaigned, I know you’re tired of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but I promise you, ‘I’m going to make America great again.’
Now Republicans have total control over the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House, but still, they are reaching up into their cabinets, pulling the down peanut butter and jelly, telling the country to take a seat at the table.
They still can’t repeal and replace Obamacare, not even one word, for they have nothing to replace it with. Apparently the way it was before Obamacare resides in a distance galaxy, completely and totally out of reach.
This mentality have the country feeling, ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ is stuck forever with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, if they don’t act.
Democrats have not a prayer in the next midterm election cycle. I’m betting they will lose more seats in both Houses, but now, Republicans, your lies ain’t working no more.
The next election cycle will be a message from the people.
‘We don’t want no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, we want our life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to be fed steaks, baked potatoes and a side order of broccoli. We want our freedoms to be saved.’
Most voters now know, those that long for the freedoms the Constitution guarantees are in their hands. They know, those that thirst after the righteousness of representation are greater than those who have become accustom to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on a daily basic.
The message here for Mr. Trump and Republicans; you should never suffer your voters to dine off what you despise, for ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ is as close as the next election cycle, or two.
