BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 A.M.) - The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reiterated that his country does not want to go to war with Ethiopia or with any of the regional neighboring countries.
However, he stressed that Khartoum would not give up an inch of its territory, including the border areas that were recently retaken from neighboring Ethiopia.
He stressed Sudan's desire to reach an agreement that preserves its legitimate rights and to place signs on the ground, noting that what the armed forces had done was the deployment of the army inside Sudanese territory.
Al-Burhan said that the armed forces carried out this operation in full coordination with the country's political apparatus.
He saluted the armed forces in their defense of the homeland and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded and injured.
Khartoum and Addis Ababa have been recently involved in a border dispute over territories that Sudan claims were occupied by Ethiopia for years following this confrontation.
