@scotters @metzli - I homeschooled in Texas. My kids never had a paper filled out about their education. I had no problem with this and appreciated the freedom. I believe (now) that this family was being used by the media. Whatever they did or didn't do, the "news" was using them to prove a point. California public schools are losing money because of the mandated 100% vaccination of all students, so some parents are pulling kids to homeschool them. The timing of this "situation" was perfect to get international attention and force more rules to come down from the top. The "facts" of this do not add up. Not at all.

I would not disagree with this at all...they are making a point that's unrelated. The issue is the abuse (assuming reports are correct) and has nothing to do with homeschooling.

This is also a big reason why, when our little one is older to choose a Make A Wish, that if she were to choose a Disney thing, we would want to go to FL instead...
