The organizers have confirmed that decisions have been taken for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Decision Review System (DRS).
IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla confirmed the matter and said that the modern technology will be used in the 11th edition of the IPL, which starts next month. He said that the technology was being discussed for a long time.
Using the DRS, the match verifies the official umpire's decision. India has been opposing this technology for several years. But lastly, in 2016, India agreed to use the DRS in Tests for the first time. Every team in the IPL, which starts on April 7, will be able to apply for a review in each innings. For the first time in the T-20 franchise league, DRS was used in Pakistan Super League last year. This technology began to officially be used for the first time in a 2009 Test match. But in the Twenty20, the ICC allowed the use of DRS last October.
The same technology has already been used in tennis, rugby and football. FIFA has allowed its use in the forthcoming Russia World Cup.
