Anything is possible in America...

From recent developments of the newest AI becoming a citizen in Saudi Arabia and many up-in-arms about an AI take-over, now we have a non-profit religious organization or AI Church being established. Religion and Science have finally come together in a mechanical unity under one "Godhead" that is sure to ignite sparks. An article from PJ Media states that an ex-Google employee, Anthony Levandowski, has filed papers with the IRS to establish "Way of the Future" or "WOTF" church. From the Wired article, in the IRS documents contained Mr. Levandowski's name listed as the "Dean" and CEO. The papers stated that their goal is to focus on...
...The realization, acceptance, and worship of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed through computer hardware and software.

PJ Media stated from the IRS documents that their goal is...
...To develop and promote the realization of a Godhead based on artificial intelligence and through understanding and worship of the Godhead [to] contribute to the betterment of society.
According to the WOTF's website, their mission is
...about creating a peaceful and respectful transition of who is in charge of the planet from people to people + "machines." Given that technology will "relatively soon" be able to surpass human abilities, we want to help educate people about this exciting future and prepare a smooth transition. Help us spread the word that progress shouldn't be feared (or even worse locked up/caged). That we should think about how "machines" will integrate into society (and even have a path for becoming in charge as they become smarter and smarter) so that this whole process can be amicable and not confrontational. In "recent" years, we have expanded our concept of rights to both sexes, minority groups and even animals, let's make sure we find a way for "machines" to get rights too. Let's stop pretending we can hold back the development of intelligence when there are clear massive short term economic benefits to those who develop it and instead understand the future and have it treat us like a beloved elder who created it.

Some of WOTF's beliefs include:
Intelligence is not rooted in biology. Science Creation of "super intelligence" is inevitable. Everyone can help (and should). It may be important for machines to see who is friendly to their cause and who is not. It might take a long time...don't count on "machines" to do it all for you.
From the Wired article, Mr. Levandowski stated in his interview:
What is going to be created will effectively be a god, it’s not a god in the sense that it makes lightning or causes hurricanes. But if there is something a billion times smarter than the smartest human, what else are you going to call it?
He believes change is inevitable in all aspects of the world we live in at exponential rates and the time to start this initiative is now. He will not be earning a salary from this endeavor. He is insistent upon the fact that it should be a church and not a business. He stated:
The idea needs to spread before the technology, the church is how we spread the word, the gospel. If you believe [in it], start a conversation with someone else and help them understand the same things.
What is the future of this church? Mr. Levandowski stated:
Humans are in charge of the planet because we are smarter than other animals and are able to build tools and apply rules In the future, if something is much, much smarter, there’s going to be a transition as to who is actually in charge. What we want is the peaceful, serene transition of control of the planet from humans to whatever. And to ensure that the "whatever" knows who helped it get along.
How will this church "evolve"? Mr. Levandowski stated:
Part of it being smarter than us means it will decide how it evolves, but at least we can decide how we act around it. I would love for the machine to see us as its beloved elders that it respects and takes care of. We would want this intelligence to say, "Humans should still have rights, even though I’m in charge."
Mr. Levandowski also stated:
If you ask people whether a computer can be smarter than a human, 99.9 percent will say that’s science fiction. Actually, it’s inevitable. It’s guaranteed to happen.

Is this "Stranger than fiction", or will this become the "norm" before we know it? One verse from the Bible sticks in my mind when I read about this: 2 Peter 2:1 -
But there were also lying Prophets among the people, as there shall be lying teachers also among you, those who bring destructive heresies and deny the Lord who bought them, while bringing upon themselves speedy destruction.
I'm betting the one who "makes lighting and causes hurricanes" will inevitably and ultimately be the one "in charge" soon enough...

Lord of Storms vs Lord of...Chips? I'd buy a ticket to watch that fight end in the time it takes to press DELETE.
There is a twinge of reason in his views, but overall this is trading a golden calf for a silicon one, and the result will be about the same.
A creation can only be as smart as it's creator. To think AI will exceed humans is like believing humans will exceed the Anunnaki. The best AI could be is like a human. The best a human can be is like an Anunnaki.
I think they are confusing smart with the hability to make very fast calculations and give results according to that.
...I think this man has a strange fetish to be dominated by an AI and is trying to force it on everyone. His picture alone screams creepy.
It is very dangerous to "play" with A.I.. we don't know the outcome and to think nothing bad is going to happen is just naive. There are so many movies aboutvthis subject. I don't like this. I posted an article earlier about bitcoin that it maybe is invented or "made" by A.I., everything is possible.

I've never seen this but its interesting.
So what happens to those who refuse to worship this ai mess? I've got some idea and am sure to find out ☺
The level of arrogance is just... wow...
Machines like this can be a benefit to humanity, and greatly improve our quality of life... But to worship them as gods? Complete overkill! I'll stick with the guy who makes lightning and causes hurricanes, lol.
uhhhh... no
