Since a few days ago, a new chain of messages has been moving by WhatsApp. It is a text that has as its protagonist Momo, an invented character with an extremely disturbing face and that brings with it a typical threat of horror movies. It is not a scam, but even so, it has disturbing features.
The viral appears as a message from an unknown number, with a text that threatens to contact us again and torment us if we refuse to call that number. The challenge requires, in fact, to call Momo to send us violent images or threats. Then, these same images must be forwarded to the contacts. In short, a classic chain, with a more cinematic point.
Momo seems to be a simple and harmless terror joke. Maybe out of season, since it would have made more sense for Halloween and not with the summer heat. However, it is advisable not to promote the chain. First of all, because it is always an annoying practice, in addition, you can not be sure that Momo does not end up evolving in a trick to gain the trust of the users and ask for their data in a second moment.
According to the specialist, hacking your cell phone only using the phone number is very unlikely. However, what can happen with this Momo viral on WhatsApp is that they get personal information. Simply put the digits in Google and social networks like Facebook and Instagram to access the stucco recently, where to live, if you have family, where you work, among other private details. To avoid this, do not put your profiles in public mode.
