I hear Laurel. But I've not seen any explanation of the significance. But does it matter? I've lasted 91 years without being aware I could be losing out.
Anyway Laurel is a word,as in Bush or paired with Hardy. What does Yanny do? They probably mean Fanny.
Turns out that any one you hear is right because the robot was programmed with the two words. Its a sound frequency game. The programmer infused both words therefore leaving your brain to choose between the two...if you hear laurel then your ears pick on high frequency and if you hear yanny your ears pick on lower frequency and for those that hears the two, you are perfectly fine. This simply means your brain toggles between the two words. Any which way we all are right.
What I hear is definitely closer to Yanny, but it's more like Yammy or Yeah-me, I'm not hearing anything close to Laurel though.
exactly, I could hear no 'L' consonant at all
Exactly! I hear the same as you! Yammy! ;)

Yanny

But the original recording was Laurel
the purpose of this folly is to further distract the populace from ongoing world events.
Hegelian dialectic : false opposition both of which ultimately serve the state

On this one I hear Laurel but the other day I was hearing Yanny. I wonder if it's the frequency at which the audio is played back?
