I remember watching the embarrassing JIT presentation live, and thinking "wow, they really are just taking the piss". The supposed evidence they provided was sketchy and made no logical sense. The "smoking gun" recording of the DPR rebels (provided of course by the Ukrainian SBU), actually contradicted the narrative. It was like they were hoping nobody would bother to read the subtitles.
Their argument that a single BUK missile launching truck, supposed sneaked across such a heavily monitored border, could target and hit an aircraft at that altitude without the other modules of the weapons system (such as the radar) being present, it just absurd. Unless of course the Ukrainian government just happened to loan them the use of their military radar, which was coincidentally active during the time that MH17 was brought down.
Yep, there was some WAV form audio analysis conducted on those recordings the Ukrainian SBU provided and the studio engineer analyzing the audio determined that the conversations that were presented were switching from mono to stereo and had various anomalies within the recording, thus the evidence had been likely created in a studio and was not simply phone conversations that were intercepted. Of course, the DSB completely ignored this fact and went ahead with their 'investigation' with a predetermined result and Ukraine (one of the alleged possible culprits) completely onboard with the investigation itself. They even provided the new Ukrainian authorities the right to reject any findings that paint Ukraine in a bad light. Thus, the whole thing has stunk to high heaven since the very beginning.
