Have you ever said that a simple character would have sufficed to crash an iPhone? It may seem incredible, but it really is. To tell the truth, it is not the first time we have seen such a problem: in 2015, for example, there had been a lot of talk about the bug Effective Power, which is a series of characters that if sent to an iPhone caused iOS to crash. The following year we had a link to freeze the devices of the apple and just a month ago it was the turn of chaiOS.
If the character is displayed within an application (WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.), the app in question will crash and will continue to close each time you try to start it. The situation gets worse if someone sends you the symbol and iOS tries to show it in a notification: in this case, the entire Springboard (ie the system software that manages the Home) crashes.
If this happens, wait and hope that the Springboard will restart properly, because if you force a reboot of the device, it will bootloop.
The bug does not afflict only iOS but any Apple product: even watchOS and macOS crashano desktop applications when they try to render the character in question. We personally tested with Note, Safari and the App Store on macOS and all these were closed immediately as soon as the symbol in question was pasted.
