The public University of Lucerne accepts Bitcoin.

By working together with Bitcoin Suisse AG, students can now settle outstanding amounts with the crypto currency. As expected, the university will not manage the Bitcoin itself. These are converted into Swiss Francs by a payment system once a week.

A statement from the university states:

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts also assumes that not many students will use the offer. It is probable that those who are "concerned with the topics of financial services and blockchain" or "are interested in further training in this area" will be able to decide for this possibility of payment.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences is not the only educational institution that has chosen to accept Bitcoin. Among other things, King's College New York, the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, and the University of Cumbria in the United Kingdom have also added Bitcoin as an alternative option in the recent past.

The university has already dealt with the blockchain technology in the past.

Researchers at the university are involved in a number of blockchain initiatives. For example, some of the university's experts are working on a project with the city of Zug. In this, the data of the inhabitants are stored on the blockchain with a so-called blockchain ID. The college is also a member of the nonprofit Crypto Valley Association, which deals with companies and start-ups in Switzerland who work with the technology.

This article is about Munchee, an app that is particularly interesting for food lovers.

The problem

If you are in another city, you often want to try the best food in this city without having to look for a long time. However, it is currently difficult to do this, as it is not only about the quality and taste of the food, but also about the language skills of the service, the speed, etc., on restaurant evaluation platforms such as Yelp, so you have to filter out a huge number of reviews and read to find out if the food actually tastes good. In addition, it is not even ensured that the reviews submitted are correct, as a simple Google search for "fake reviews" shows. The biggest problem, which actually all review platforms have, however, is that there is only one incentive to report negative experiences.

A simple example: If you had a nice evening in a restaurant, the service was friendly and fast and the food tasted, so you have little desire to log in at home again and write about this experience. Why should you also, the evening was perfect and for the evaluation one receives no "remuneration". If, however, a negative experience has been made, the need arises to "pay home" the restaurant in the future - naturally in the form of a negative assessment.

The solution: Munchee

Munchee wants to solve these problems and has been working on the solution since the end of 2016. To do this, the Munchee Token is to be created and integrated into the existing app for food evaluation. The app is currently only available in the USA and places the focus of the reviews completely on the quality of the food.

The app was selected as the # 1 app in the "Product Hunt" in June 2017. The implementation of the blockchain technology as well as the Munchee Token now provides an incentive for positive evaluations by automatically giving the user automatic tokens for any reviews. However, the remuneration with token is not limited to evaluations. Influencers with a broad follower base can receive tokens by, for example, moving users through a referral link to download the app.

Furthermore, using the blockchain, there is no longer any possibility of manipulating or recognizing evaluations. In this way, trust between the customer and the restaurant can be built up.

After the ICO the app is to be improved first. The list of restaurants is to be greatly expanded, as well as the upload of videos are allowed. The app is supposed to be a kind of food Instagram and also give users the opportunity to follow the influences and summarize their favorite food in a separate list. In addition, Munchee is working on the implementation of Kik as an internal messaging system.

In the future, the app will be used not only for evaluations, but also to order food and actually pay with the Munchee token. Firstly, a wallet is expected to be integrated into the app at the end of 2018. Due to the high fees that the restaurants currently pay for the use of Visa, Mastercard and Co (despite a profit margin of often less than 5%), the payment with blockchain-based tokens is extremely useful. All in all, the road map will end at the end of 2019 and culminate in partnerships with food delivery services. The focus of the project lies in the US and is expanding to Asia, especially South Korea.

The ICO

Since there are still a few days to the ICO, the numbers mentioned here can still change. It is currently planned that the ICO will start with a two-week "Pre Sale" on 13 October 2017 at 13:00 UTC. In the first 24 hours there is 15%, in the subsequent 7 days 10% and finally in the last 6 days 5% bonus. The actual ICO will start on November 16, 2017 for 30 days and will not include a bonus. In total, the 500,000,000 Munchee Token will sell 225,000,000 Tokens at the ICO (45%), with the soft cap at 7 million USD and the hard cap at 14 million USD. According to Whitepaper, 40% of the money is spent on the expansion of the team and 35% on marketing and branding. It is particularly interesting that this ICO can also be used by all investors from the USA, only China, Macau and South Korea are excluded.

It is particularly interesting that Munchee is to be listed on an American exchange market within 30 days after the ICO!

Summary

Overall, I am quite convinced of Munchee. The idea has potential and solves a given problem without massively collecting money like other projects. The roadmap seems realistic and leaves enough time for the realization of the objectives. A stock exchange guarantee is always a good indication of the seriousness of a project. The most important, however, is that Munchee already has a finished product, which is now being built up.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized the decision of the Greek court to extradite Alexander Vinnik to the United States. Vinnik is accused of using money laundering with the BTC-e crypto exchange market.

In a statement, the ministry stated that it had to "regret" the fact that the court had accepted the request of the American authority to extradite the suspect. Vinnik was arrested in Greece at the end of July and is accused of having a leading role at the Bitcoin BTC-e exchange. The crypto exchange has been under the suspicion of money laundering in billions.

The accused has been in Greece since his arrest. In Russia, too, Vinnik was first sought for other offenses. In the United States, Vinnik and BTC-e also issued an arrest warrant.

Vinnik continues to hold the view that he must be released from all charges. While admittedly working for the crypto exchange market in the past, he denies having held a leading role. The crypto exchange itself also explained that Vinnik was not involved in money laundering and is now working under a new name.

The decision of the Greek judge angered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which called for a revision of the judgment in an opinion.

The Foreign Ministry wrote in the statement:

In its opinion, the Ministry does not go into further detail on the criminal offenses which Vinnik has had in Russia. Since Vinniks lawyers have already declared to go against the verdict in revision, the ministry hopes that Vinnik will be sent to Russia.

"We hope that the Greek authorities will take account of the request of the Russian General Prosecutor and will follow Russia's argument and act in accordance with international law," the ministry said.
