DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Agency plans to build 10 access roads in a number of sections. This method is expected to reduce traffic jams in Jakarta, especially during rush hours.
Traffic jams in Jakarta are getting chronic. Especially when people's activities are starting to return to normal after being disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the record, the congestion index in DKI Jakarta is at 48% at the end of 2022. This figure has increased dramatically from 2020 which was at 34%, during the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, before COVID-19, namely in 2019, the highest congestion index reached 53%.
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has taken various methods, from reactivating the odd-even rule to developing a mass transportation system. However, these methods have not been enough to help break down traffic jams in the DKI area.
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta through the Highways Service plans to build 10 access roads in a number of sections. The 10 passageways are planned to be completed in 2023.
