The US-drafted proposal passed the Security Council 15-0, securing support from North Korean allies China and Russia.
The UN Security Council has voted unanimously to impose an estimated $1bn of new sanctions on North Korea, in an effort to contain the country’s rapidly expanding nuclear programme.
The UN resolution bans all North Korean exports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood. It also limits the number of North Koreans permitted to work abroad, and bars countries from entering into new joint ventures with North Korea or investing in current ones. The resolution also adds nine people and four entities – including North Korea’s primary foreign exchange bank – to the UN blacklist.
Compare and contrast the positive Cumbaya moment in the UN security council, to Cumbaya Ecuador. I lived in Cumbaya for 12 months back in the 2000's. Sadly, Cumbaya at the time was trying to import too much US culture, with the two top end expat restaurants being McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Otherwise, Ecuador was an amazing country, Quito was a great city, and Cumbaya was a very nice expat neighborhood with views of multiple different volcanoes. Exceptional local culture and some of the purest Spanish speakers on the planet.
The land of eternal spring
For the most part, the houses and office buildings in Quito and Cumbaya did not have or need either heating or air conditioning. If you were hot you opened the windows and breezes blew through. If you were cold you closed the windows and had some coffee. The daily high temperature varied between 68 and 72 year round. Some of the oldest living populations of people live in or near to Quito. Quito is 9,600 feet above sea level, meaning the air is thinner. Oxygen is still 21% of air, but fewer molecules per unit volume means lower total amount of oxygen. Less oxygen means machines and people "rust out slower".
Many people live to beyond 100 in Quito and to beyond 110 in nearby Vilcabamba. Ecuadorians have a healthier lifestyle with more walking and a lot fewer calories than the US, and lower oxygen levels. You don't need to look for anti-oxidant foods like many in the US do, if you are living in a place that is a natural anti-oxidant due to low oxygen levels.

Hello Dave
I had to look up Cumbaya on Wikipedia since it is complete new to me - never heard of if before. It looks like the area is transitioning into a population of commuters to Quito. That is a shame and will most likely be something we can measure in the average life expectancies in the area in the years to come.
Steemit is such a great platform that allows for peaceful revolution (or evolution) instead of the current way of governmental sanctions, wars and espionage. The blockchain will eventually become a new standard and we will experience peace in the world to an extent we have never experienced before. Hopefully!
Thanks
@ronni
Thanks for reading and review. Cumbaya, Ecuador really was heaven on earth, great place!!
For how long were you there and what was your purpose? Do you recommend it as a tourist destination?
what did you actually do in Ecuador? Quite an unusual place to go to, but sounds exciting!
I was a problem solver. Manta, the sister of Vladivostok.
RIP. Otto Warmbier. The North Korean marxist commies grabbed him at the airport as he was leaving North Korea. They returned him to the US 17 months later. He died 7 days after his return. Torture is a way of life for subhuman marxist filth.
Socialist marxist are such wonderful people, sarcasm off. Hopefully the next candidate for president from the left is Warren or Sanders, both from the socialist communist wing of the party. I believe they would go down to major defeat.
Yes Dave, now we can all hold hands and be happy without fear !
Probably not just yet. Unified votes in UN Security Council are rare, usually happen just prior to major military actions. Think back to Iraq, which was approved in UN Security Council.
The UN vote was a message to North Korea. Straighten up - else military action is next
Hold hands and combaya everyone :)
yes I do, upvoted!

Hey @davebrewer,
this really sounds like an awesome place. Good temperatures, a tasty local coffee and especially the life expectancy is amazing with 100 to 110 years :)
Regarding the sanctions let's see what'll happen. I don't think it will slow down or bother NK that much actually...
Great post :D
