This brings to mind this quote from John Milton: “Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.” We should not be afraid to test ideas in the marketplace of ideas!
@davidpakman its a very great issue i also faced this issues when i was in first yea at university. we should avoid and feel free to speak.
Good post brother @davidpakman, my be that problem we meet in some university,,
@davidpakman Glad to see you speaking in defense of the First Amendment. How could you support the 1A, yet have such a negative opinion about the 2A? 2A advocates see an end game where an armed population is a counterbalance against a rogue government that decides to do away with the 1A. This has happened time and again in other countries throughout history where a population's free speech and other rights become suppressed, but because that population is disarmed they cannot fight back against the tyranny. What's your response to that argument?
2A is the law, it doesn't need "support." It sounds like you are saying people with rifles can take down tyrannical government?
It's not a universal problem at all colleges, but is still a serious issue. There's a loud vocal minority of students that don't want to hear dissenting opinions. They disparage and try to shut down everything they don't agree with. One issue I think is common is not understanding free speech as a principle, greater than just the government censorship banned by the 1st amendment.
