I think self-defense is the most basic survival instinct for living beings. It is okay to protect your lives and your loved one if it means harming the one who threatens it. Moreover I agree with the law enforcement idea of yours. Only the place I'm standing against is the guns. Yes there are many occasions gun helps for us to protect ourselves but from what I see they are the ones who start the danger too. I know that guns do not operate itself without humans pulling the trigger but again give a gun to a baby and he can shoot his father by mistake. I think the important thing is education and family. With those aspects, guns are not as much threat as people thinks. But again I think forbidding guns can generally lower the threats. I enjoyed reading your post, looking forward for more.
The baby or child argument is a plea to emotions. It’s the parents duty to keep weapons, dangerous tools out of in inexperienced hands...Here is an argument, cars are involved in thousands of injuries and deaths every year, should we ban cars? There are at least one or two stories a month of children sneaking the car keys and going for a joy ride and wrecking the car, some die or kill others. If we protect ourselves from all dangers life brings we will have to live in padded cells.
A man can overpower a woman and child because of his strength and size. However a woman with a gun can stay out of the reach of a violent man using a gun.
Because of our social training in my community a child would never have access to guns. Forbidding guns make criminals and corrupt government/banks/ corporations happy. They can do what ever they wish as police hand out fines and speeding tickets.
I have enjoyed your respectful opinion and respect your views @dexterflux but don’t take my guns...I’m not going to give them up peacefully. If our economy collapses, our fiat currency isn’t backed by oil anymore (petrol dollar) or gas goes to 100s of dollars a barrel, a woman is gonna need her guns.
