in #news7 years ago (edited)

The Rand has seen steady improvement as speculation of the ANC election results grew. The result of this election could determine the future of South-African economics

President of the ANC

The new president of the ANC is Cyril Ramaphosa (CR). This does not automatically make him the South-African President. Jacob Zuma will still finish his term in 2019 but with the previous precedent set, an early recall and interim President is possible.

Deputy President

The new president of the ANC is David Mabuza, replacing CR.

How does this affect the country?

With Cyril Ramaphosa in charge of the ANC, it will be very interesting to see how the policy will change and be shaped within the ANC. There is also a call for Ramaphosa to recall Jacob Zuma as president. Of the two candidates, Cyril Ramaphosa is certainly the candidate that is more likely to succeed in lifting South-Africa out of the economic crisis we are facing.

That said, On Friday, Jacob Zuma declared ahead of the conference that higher education will be free for the majority of people. This was done to help reinforce the platform that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was campaigning on. The reality is though, that South-Africa is not in a position to be able to afford this, leaving a nice mess for Ramaphosa to clean up...

We have such high expectations, because there is a huge mess to clean. Time will tell, but hoping for the best.

For the first time in a long time, I think our country has an opportunity to finally unite and excel!

One thing about this country is that in the face of change and challenge, we overcome.
I believe this through and through. Time is the great teller.

As the saying goes: "time heals all wounds" and this country certainly has many deep wounds, both past and present! But I couldn't agree more, adversity breeds exceptional people...

Time will tell.

Season Greetings

There is at least some hope again.
