I am increasingly convinced all someone need be is a good actor to be a politician. They need to have a little charisma and be able to deliver a speech telling the people what they want to hear. Basically they need to be able to use the correct fishing bait.
Because other than that they typically are complete idiots that continually illustrate how little they actually know and how out of touch with reality they are.
This that you shared is a prime example. I'd think common sense would show that idea for the stupidity involved right away.
Yet these days common sense doesn't seem to be that common.
EDIT: It also shows they clearly do not understand what is driving the opiod crisis. If they did it should be very apparent how stupid this is.
On the otherhand if they are not stupid how do they benefit? Simple... now big pharma can charge stupid prices for some patented combination lock bottles and jack the price of things up even more at a time when more people are going bankrupt due to medical costs than at any other time in history.
