One minute in full darkness in Comilla

On the night of 25 March 1971, the Pakistani occupation army carried out brutal killings against the Bangalis, which has been an example of the worst genocide in the history of the world. As part of the program to remember the events of the horrific incident, the symbolic black out program was held from 9.00pm to 9.01pm in Comilla yesterday.


In front of Comilla Town Hall, Bir Freedom Fighters Rafiqul Islam stood on stage in the Comilla Sadar constituency, MP and City Awami League President Bir Freedom Fighter Alhaj AQM Bahauddin Bahar. Comilla was submerged in the dark one minute. In addition to the program on the occasion of Genocide Day, the documentary on the massacre was displayed at the initiative of district information office at 4pm on the freedom fighter Rafiqul Islam stage. In the evening, discussion sessions and cultural programs were held on the same platform. Speaking on the occasion, Member of Parliament AKM Bahauddin Bahar spoke as the chief guest. Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Fazl Mir. Professor Amir Ali Chowdhury, former Principal of Comilla Victoria Government College, spoke.


On the night of March 25, special prayer and prayer was done to remember the dead. Candles were lit up in the killing ground of the Maghrib.
