I arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. 14 innocent people were run over by a SUV on Flinders St between Elizabeth and Swanston streets in the heart of Melbourne this afternoon.
A preschool aged child was one of the people involved and is in a serious condition at Royal Childrens Hospital with head trauma.
This is the busiest street in the city, Trams and trains out of Flinders St Station have been halted. All entrances to the area have been cordoned off by the police. I was talking to one local who claimed that this is the second time something like this has happened in the last 12 months or so.
