I think the regime change actions in Iraq and Libya are informing the policies of North Korea and Iran, and that the leaderships in tose countries act rationally from their positions, where regime survival is demonstrably priority number one. Above the security of their peoples, which is lunacy in itself. Bolton's statement that today's situation in the Middle East does not flow directly from the war in Iraq is superficially true, but at the same time misleading. Take out the word directly, and regard the intervention as integral to the long lines in US policy in the Middle East since Reagan took office, and the connection through the overthrow of Saddam to today's geo political situation in the Middle East is pretty obvious. One can only hope Trump does not get the idea that he needs a new war to get re-elected, but if he does, he's found just the man who won't hesitate to construct a narrative to enable that war.
