We live north of Detroit (lifelong Michigan residents) and I swear sometimes I feel embarrassed to say I am from Michigan. Sad situation with the ruling by high court.
I do know here, even if you have your key in the ignition (car not running) and you are texting that is officially breaking the law.
And I remember a few years back some guy out towards Ann Arbor perhaps was riding his lawn mower while intoxicated, after he has license revoked for DUIs, etc.. they arrested him for driving impaired. He was on his front lawn. I mean, c'mon, go after the REAL criminals

Did you hear the latest? 8 people are running for mayor.. four of them have criminal records. I know, I know... most politicians have a criminal history but these four have proven records- assault, weapons charges, etc. Yeah, that's what my great state is coming to
