A prominent steemian made a prediction a while back, that STEEM would bypass Bitcoin and become the top cryptocurrency by 2019. Are you familiar with that prediction? What you wrote about STEEM trading abnormally high, reminded me of it. Do you give the prediction any credence? What do you attribute the abnormally high trading price of STEEM that you mention?
So, there are two questions here:
1. Will STEEM overcome Bitcoin by 2019?
My answer is NO, I don't think so. There are many, many differences between those two assets, starting from technical, going through governance and ending with real use cases. With that being said, I'm extremely bullish on STEEM. Please understand that I'm not doing any predictions (that's a full disclosure, by the way, don't trade based on my opinions, make your own) but I can throw an educated guess every once in a while. You seem to have caught me in a good mood, because I'm going to throw one of these now: I see STEEM between $10 and $20 by the end of this year, and somewhere between $80-$100 at the end of 2020.
2. STEEM trading at $2 in Korea
The price is abnormally high because of the "kimchi premium". Korea traders are very bullish on crypto, generally speaking, and sometimes they push the price very high. It's a bit difficult to trade on Bithum because the price that we're talking about is on the STEEM/KRW pair, which means you have first to buy a lot of Korean Won and this might be a bit difficult to do by the millions...
Thanks for your answers. Since we're past the midway point of 2018, I've gotten less optimistic for STEEM to overtake Bitcoin in what's now less than 6 months. The answers you gave certainly are good to still have optimism for the future. Thanks again for your answers, and I'm glad to have caught you in a good mood! Cheers!
