Censorship Wars

in #news6 years ago

If you’ve been covering politics from a conservative perspective, this probably hasn’t been your year. And we all know it’s been by design. From prominent conservative outlets getting their reach reduced significantly after “algorithm changes”, to whistle blowers within tech companies of twitter, facebook, and google all coming out in full force advancing their political agenda. It’s obvious to even the most “liberal” people now. Which is why they defend censorship by saying things like “they’re private companies and they can do what they want.”. I just want to take a moment and point out that censorship is censorship regardless of who’s doing it. Merriam Webster’s first definition of censorship is “The institution, system, or practice of censoring”. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the government or a private company, it’s still censorship. Maybe you think private companies should have that right, fine. But you believe in censorship.
Not only are the companies politically biased, but there are even established financial ties through political contributions. Also, remember…these are the same tech companies which were feeding your information to the intelligence agencies unbeknownst to everyone. The same tech companies manipulating search results and shadow-banning people today as well. But hey guys…remember, they’re a private company and can do what they want (hypno spiral).
Think of it this way, the legacy media such as the New York Times is against Trump for financial reasons related to Mexico, cartels, and the Democratic Party. I cover it in depth in another article. I highly recommend it, and it’s not just because I made it, although that’s a little bit of it. Now, I’ll give a couple quick examples of other legacy media and why they’re biased. CNN is owned by AT&T which also owns HBO, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is the brother of Andrew Cuomo (the current Governor of New York). Both heavily supported Hillary in the election. It’s no wonder, especially since Andrew Cuomo served as both Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Community Planning and Development and as the secretary for that position itself. I’m NOT repeating that title again. I’m sure you’re all familiar will HBO’s Bill Mahrer who is just in love with Trump…Ok, maybe not.
Not surprisingly, Trump is addressing the censorship. This is because alternative media and twitter is how he communicates to the people, which he used to great success in his 2016 election. Now, since the censorship (in this context) is mainly directed at independent, conservative publications, it’s an excellent attack on Trump. It skillfully separates Trump from his supporters. If you remember the 2016 campaign, it went something like this. Trump would say something provocative, it would get a lot of attention and Trump would be attacked from the mainstream PR companies, and then people would see the independent conservative groups cover it…That would let independent and conservative voters get a more complete picture. However, With the reach of conservative publications getting stunted this will severely hamper the ability of conservatives to mobilize. If you google Trump, this is what comes up. Chances are, due to algorithm changes…challenges to the mainstream PR companies will be buried under pages you’ll have to click through. Sure there may be instances where conservatives could be even or maybe favored in select searches, but the general trend is not going to be favorable for independent media as a whole.
The changes in the algorithms are in preparation for the 2018 midterm elections. They will be huge. You see, I don’t think Trump has time to do much about the censorship right now, but in conversations with members from the tech industry, you could tell that conservatives were not pleased about what was happening. If the conservatives can hold onto their majority we could see something being done to address this issue, but we’ll have to see.
The battle lines have been drawn for the midterm elections. Mainstream PR companies allied with the tech industry in opposition to Independent Media and candidates. Who’s going to win? Also we will finally find out what the deal is with all the sealed indictments. If there is anything in the indictments that would help Trump maintain a majority in the House and Senate we will see it. Because this midterm election is too important for him to lose. He has a chance of being impeached if he loses the majority. I think it’s safe to say if we don’t see anything about the sealed indictments before the midterm election they’re probably just smoke.
