You Can't Make This Shit Up! Equifax Given IRS Security Job

Equifax, the company that was hacked not once but twice this year, has been handed a $7.25 million dollar contract by the IRS to secure and verify identities of its tax payers.

The same company that failed to protect critically important information in its own accounts is now trusted by the government to protect the tax paying public. This is hilarious.

This is the same company that's still embroiled in litigation from giant data breaches that led to 125+ million people having their personal details stolen.

Equifax testified that they overlooked their own security protocols and failed to exercise due diligence to protect the info in which they were trusted previously.

From what I've read the contract they were awarded wasnt offered in a closed bidding process but given as a sole source deal, meaning there wasn't even an opportunity for other firms to bid or be considered for the contract.

Equifax being trusted to protect everyones tax information is like asking a fat kid to guard the cookie jar!

It makes for a great Steemit post though :)

Like saying goes, the truth is stranger than fiction. Very interesting stuff, good job Equifax!

Crazy, failure is an experience to straighten what is delayed, success will not happen by itself without a long process.
Thank you @goldenarms , your post is really interesting to discuss and fix, so we do not fall back into the same hole.
