Rand Paul blocked fast-tracking the National Defense Authorization Act on Friday to block John McCain from hitting the Trifecta of evil before he goes back to Arizona to die. Paul is smart doing it this way and shows he has the stones to take McCain on through procedure that is usually used against the people.
If Trump fails to reform anything, or if Trump is truly the wolf in sheep's clothing, then watch out for Paul in 2020. He learned the hard way that you don't play their reindeer games on the campaign trail. You differentiate yourself like his dad did and force huge wedges into the structure of the Uniparty in D.C. to force them out into the open.
It's a small victory here that will put off this bill's passage until September, but it's an important one. It highlights that time is the enemy of these people. The longer these things can be stretched out, the worse they look in the eyes of voters who demand substantive change.
By September they will be fighting about raising the debt ceiling. And McCain will be loopy from the chemo and radiation. Paul knows this, he's a doctor. Smart.
One of the only politicians I can stomach listening to. He is like a breath of fresh air in our corrupt system. I honestly don't know how he can do it. I can't even listen to more than a minute of their nonsense, rand actually has to interact with these vermin on a daily basis. He deserves an award!!
Agreed. He understands, like his dad, that the long game is the way. The generations are changing in Congress. By the time the McCains, Feinsteins and McConnells are gone, people like him will have seniority. That's how things will begin to change.
But, don't bet on it happening before it's too late. It already is.
I was going to reply but you said it perfectly.

I voted for Ron (with a pencil), I may break my vow and actually vote again if Rand runs.
That is, if I'm still living here.
The empire has had its 250 years, more or less, time to see if I can find the next good place to live.
