More than 1,700 people were evacuated after the eruption of Kilauea on Hawaii's largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago, also known as Big Island. 31 houses were destroyed on Sunday by lava, which is thrown from the crater into the air to a height of over 61 meters.
According to the Hawaii authorities, the decimated houses were in the settlement of Leilani Estates, where molten rocks, toxic gas and water vapors got through the cracks in the earth formed by the volcano.
