If you want to understand the Trump-administration's foreign policy, you have to study Otto von Bismarck. And Macron apparently on this line of thought too.
Do not forget, like Newsbud has, that Erdogan is the former ally of CIA's drug lord Gülen and has and still is funding terrorists in Syria, even if he now is at war with Gülen and ISIS that his family got a fortune in oil trade with.
If Erdogan is unchecked, it will be a disaster as Erdogan's only chance to stay in power according to him and his actions, is to wage war in Syria and generally be a pain in everyone's butt.
So to avoid war, France and USA have to be ready to go to war against Turkey, and the problem is Russia and Putin that might not understand this new line of thought yet, but that will be solved. Putin is definitely not a friend of Erdogan, and even if they are cooperating with pipelines and trade, and Erdogan really tries to befriend Russia, Putin wants to see him gone, but not at the cost of a war. One option is a deal with Russia that all their sanctions are lifted if they blockade Turkey. But it's way too early for this now.
Also note that Israel and Turkey are very much on the same side in Syria - despite the rhetoric between the countries. Then it's USA and France that together with Israel want to keep their Kurdish allies. And Assad and his friends. UK's current regime is pretty much out and have totally humiliated themselves supporting terrorists with factories producing chemical weapons exposed and they should be lucky if they can keep their own country together.
