Venezuela, the only country where raising wages means more poverty, more inflation.

in #news7 years ago

President Nicolás Maduro decreed a 40% increase in the minimum wage this Thursday (07-09). The salary increased 39,012.4 bolívares. It went from 97,531 to 136,543.4 bolivares. The energy bond was also increased to 189,000 bolivares.

The new wage increase decreed by Maduro is Bs. 2500 per day. Not enough for a Patty (Food), this will bring more broken businesses, payroll cuts, forced business closures, more inflation, more poverty, more delinquency.

Unfortunately, Venezuela is the only country where an increase in its monthly basic salary means a tragedy for the reasons already mentioned

Forcing the money out of the hands of small businesses who cannot afford it never is the solution. I dont know about VZ but if it is like the US, the raising of the minimum wage ends up with more people laid off. Unless margins can increase through demand, people end up getting cut.
